Health Connections Antigonish

Health Connections Antigonish is a health resource centre, meeting space and program room. It is intended to support community access to health information, health promotion and prevention programs, and services available in Antigonish town and county.

Health Connections Antigonish is delivered in partnership with the Antigonish Town and County Community Health Board and the Pictou Antigonish Regional Library.

What programs are offered through Health Connections Antigonish?

We work with GASHA services and other community groups to coordinate delivery of health promotion programs and educational sessions that are free of charge and open to the public. Some examples of programs offered are:

What information can I find at Health Connections Antigonish?

We offer access to pamphlets and internet resources related to physical, mental, social and spiritual health. Topics include; healthy eating, active living, mental health, smoking cessation, arthritis, diabetes, cancer, addictions, violence and abuse, programs, supports and more.

How do I find out what programs are coming up or how to make a suggestion?

Our programs are advertised on a monthly basis. Email smithlj@gasha.nshealth.ns.ca to be added to our listserve.

Who can use the Health Connections Antigonish program room and how?

The Health Connections Antigonish program room is used by both GASHA and community groups for public presentations, educational sessions, support groups, healthy workshops and drop in services.

Our meeting room is set up boardroom style with a table and 14 chairs. There is access to a projector, whiteboard, sink and countertop, extra chairs and other equipment if needed. There is no fee for a group to use the room.

Do you need a larger space or a kitchen for your program?

We also have access to a number of different meeting rooms within the People's Place Library. For example, the larger program room has a folding wall that allows it to accommodate approximately 90 people classroom style and about half that number at tables. There is a full kitchen with sinks, fridge, stove, microwave, countertop, window views, etc. suitable for program purposes. It has a variety of lightweight and easy to move tables and chairs. This space is highly versatile and even offers the option of opening up one wall of windows to expand the space into our outdoor patio area.

How do I book a room for my program?

There are rules and regulations around the usage of these rooms. Please contact us if you have any questions.
