Community Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy provides assessment and treatment to patients with physical challenges resulting from injuries, health conditions, surgery, and other reasons.

A Physiotherapist may help you if:

  • You have fallen recently, have a fear of falling, and / or you are at risk of falling
  • You have a health condition that impacts your daily function that is orthopedic, neurological, respiratory and / or post-operative. 
  • You have mobility needs (i.e. troubles walking, getting up and down stairs, etc.)
  • Modifications are required for home exercise program

Some of the benefits of Home-Based Rehabilitation Services include:

  • Services are provided in the individuals everyday environment 
  • Increased access to services
  • Ease of participation for the client's identified support system (e.g. family, friends, care workers, etc.) in his/her rehabilitation process.

Who is it for?

Home-based services are intended to serve individuals that are not able to attend out-patient services due to accessibility, mobility, etc. reasons. Home-based services allow therapists to serve those individuals whose needs are best evaluated and addressed within the home. GASHA's services are available to people of all ages.

When and where is the program offered?

Home visits are offered by scheduled appointment arranged through the Program medical secretary based on therapist availability

Does the program require a referral?

Community Physiotherapy services can be accessed by referral by physician or other health care provider. As well, people can self-refer; meaning one can contact the secretary directly and request services.
